Dance Production

Last Sunday I had my last dance production because it was my teachers last year before university. It was at the Rakaia community hall. I had 7 dances to do and I had 5 costumes. I really enjoy dancing and I hope I can start my own dance class one day.

SCHOOL LEADER !!!

At the Rakaia School prize giving I got picked to be the school leader for 2017. I have to meet with my principal 3 times a term and with my teacher every fortnight. It is such a privilege to be school leader and I hope I can do a lot to help the school. I am so proud of myself!

Leadership is what good leaders have.

Limericks

Limericks.jpg
I took a Limerick workshop. A Limerick is a rhyming poem with 5 lines. We had to write 3 poems. Here are mine.....

Johnny and his Trolley
There once was an old man named Johnny,
He always walked around with a shopping trolley,
He collected lots of stones,
And piles of orange road cones,
Oh, that old man named Johnny.

The Cat from Georgia
Have you ever heard of the cat from Georgia,
You probably haven’t as she rides on an Orca,
She really loves to swim,
Even though she ain’t got a fin,
You would really like that cat from Georgia.

That man and his shoes
I once met a old man from Peru,
Every day he would always eat his shoe,
But whenever he did,
The police would forbid,
That strange old man from Peru.

My Speech on Bullying

Have you ever been physically pushed or shoved by someone bigger than you? or has someone insulted you by saying mean things about you on social media? These are both signs of bullying and it's not ok!

There are 4 types of bullying which are Verbal, Social, Physical and Cyber Bullying. Verbal Bullying is when you constantly get teased and called names. Spreading rumors and leaving you out on purpose is called Social Bullying. Hitting, kicking and deliberately breaking other peoples things is called Physical Bullying. Cyber Bullying is very common. It's when someone says or does something mean and insulting on social media like Twitter, Snapchat and Facebook.

As a result of bullying, 29% of New Zealand students have harmed themselves, 27% have skipped school, 14% developed a medical disorder like depression, 12% ran away from home and only 18% claimed they have never been bullied. Therefore 82% of New Zealand students have been bullied.

By standing up to bullies, we can increase the amount of students who look forward to school. to help with that here's 5 tips to help you stand up to bullies. 1. Stay strong and don't let them hurt your feelings. 2. Stand up for yourself and others. 3. Don't show any weakness. 4. Keep any evidence like notes or emails to show a trusted adult. 5. Always have a friend to back you up. When you stand up to bullies it's like you take away their power.

Over 1.7 million New Zealand students are victims of cyber bullying each year. It's very common in Intermediate Schools and High Schools. to stay safe online you need to protect your password, never open unidentified messages or emails and don't be a cyber bully yourself. Be nice online. Think before you post. Is it something you want your family or the world to see?

There are lots of campaigns to stop bullying but we don't need a website to help us. We need to stand up for ourselves and others to put a stop to bullying in our schools because bullying is not OK!
